4 Ways to Keep Your Social Media Content Fresh This Summer

Can you believe that 2021 is already halfway over?

If your business is anything like TCP’s, then it has been a busy, yet productive, six months. But with us already well into H2, we know a lot of you have already reached a standstill when it comes to producing quality content for your social media accounts.

It can be extremely hard (and tiring!) to keep up with the endless stream of content required to be on top of your game in the social media world. It is also more difficult due to the number of platforms there are and due to the changes each platform loves to make on a regular basis.

However, if you have a strategy and content categories (which we like to call “buckets”) handy, keeping your platforms updated with fresh content throughout the busy summer months is easy to accomplish.

If you are in a summer slump with your content ideas, here are four ways to help keep your social media content as hot as the outside temps!

Collect and Repurpose User Generated Content

There is no need to reinvent the wheel and create content if your followers and customers are creating some of it for you!

In case you are unaware, user generated content is content that is produced by your followers. It can be as simple as reposting photos or videos of your customers using your product or showing the result of some advice or tips you have previously provided them.

By encouraging your followers to participate and share their opinions and experiences, you are also able to take a break and give your followers a voice. Additionally, studies show that user generated content is one of the most effective and trusted forms of content as its created by the people, for the people.

If using this approach, consider creating a hashtag for your followers to use when submitting user generated content and also encourage them to add a summer twist to anything they submit!

Pro-tip: Be sure to ask for permission before sharing the content on your pages and do not forget to credit the creators!

Company & Product News

If you have made any new changes to your business, including hiring new team members, introducing new services, or launching new products, be sure to make content focused on the growth!

Your customers and clients will always be excited to learn more about what is happening behind the scenes, especially if the new developments can positively impact them as well. It is also great to see more and more businesses thriving after the difficult year that was 2020.

These positive stories are also great when it comes to wins that you have had with your business so far this year. If you have secured any new awards, snagged new clients, or achieved any big milestones, be sure create content focused on them so your audience can celebrate with you!

Holiday and Current/Special Events Content

While it is pretty easy to create content focused on the major/traditional U.S. holidays, posting about social media holidays and other relevant dates during the year can be a fun and engaging way to communicate and connect with your audience.

If you own a restaurant for example, you can spend July focusing your content around many of the food and drink-related social media holidays by running specials or giveaways around them. These holidays could also tie into nearby events that you know will draw a crowd (like state fairs, festivals, sporting events, etc). Additionally, if you happen to read this during an Olympic Games year, you could focus your content around Olympic athletes who enjoy your type of cuisine.

Don’t forget that if you are looking for a complete list of social media holidays, U.S. Festivals and conventions, sporting events, and more, be sure to purchase one of our content calendars over in the TCP shop.

Tips and Advice Content

If there is one thing we have all learned from TikTok, it is that consumers are always on the hunt for the best tips and advice on everything ranging from activewear to zinc supplements! We cannot tell you how many posts we have seen with captions like “TikTok made me buy it” or “Does this TikTok project actually work?” It is pretty wild to see.

If you are a subject matter expert, consider creating content that provides tips related to your niche. While you certainly do not want to give away all of the goods for free, sprinkling just enough around to hook your target audience will be great for your platforms (and bottom line!).

Pro-tip: When creating tip/advice content on Instagram use Reels and the carousel feature as Instagram loves these types of posts!
